Welcome

An Austin Re-original

The Austin Ginger Man served fine beers since 1994 in the original location on 4th Street. Due to changing commercial interests in the downtown area, we have moved to a new location just a fraction of a block away. The not-really-old but not-really-new pub has some new things, and a lot of the old pub in it. Come visit us---we think we've kept the comfortable feel of the old pub, and, of course, the beer is still the most important thing here. Like the other Ginger Man pubs, there is an outside beer garden perfect for enjoying a sunny afternoon. Need a map?

New beer on draught (coming throughout the month)
Saint Arnold Spring Bock - "An authentic, German-style Bock, celebrating the coming of spring. This strong, deeply flavored lager has been aged to create a smooth, malty taste with a hint of sweetness. A light addition of German hops balances the malt flavor."
Original Gravity: 1.064 (16.3° Plato)
Color: Copper
Bitterness: 24 IBU

Widmer W'10 Pitch Black IPA - "Our Brewmasters' Release - Pitch Black IPA is a Pacific Northwest twisted tribute to an IPA style of beer. It is almost a traditional IPA but it is instead brewed to the emerging style of Cascadian Dark. We add a modest amount of a specially made debittered black malt to give this IPA a very dark color but without the characteristic dark malt flavors. Pitch Black IPA is hopped generously in the brewhouse and then again later during the dry hopping process. Hopheads of the world will certainly enjoy this dark version of IPA, as will beer drinkers looking for something new and experimental to fill their pint glass."

New Belgium Ranger IPA - "Ever met a New Belgium Beer Ranger? They are our beloved folks out in the field. Spanning all 26 of our states from the Pacific to the Atlantic, our Beer Rangers do their best to protect, to pour and to partake. And explore many a beer from many a brewery, they do. The fellows up in the Northwest kept calling for “more hops!” Soon it became a common theme across the land. Rangers, fans and craft lovers everywhere were searching for hoppier beers.

So, here it finally is – New Belgium’s foray into the true American India Pale Ales. Bring out the hops! This clear amber beauty bursts at the starting gate with an abundance of hops: Cascade (citrus), Chinook (floral/citrus), and Simcoe (fruity) lead off the beer, with Cascade added again for an intense dry hop flavor. Brewed with pale and dark caramel malts that harmonize the hop flavor from start to finish, Ranger is a sessionable splendor for all you hopinistas. Thank your Beer Ranger!"

Samuel Adams Noble Pils (Label neck description) - “Samuel Adams Noble Pils is one of the only brews made with all five Noble hops from the world’s growing regions. It's bright flavor and lively, citrus hop character reminds us that the warm days of spring are just a few weeks away.”

Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale - "A classic American pale ale, Mirror Pond Pale Ale uses generous quantities of Cascade hops, offering a lush floral aroma with a balanced malt body."
http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/Brews/default.aspx

Franconia Kolsch - "Although it is straw yellow in color, this is an ale with a light pale malt flavor, a slight nutty taste, dry with just a tiny hop bite. It is clean and easy to drink."

Real Ale ESB - "pours a deep copper color and has an enticing aroma of fruit and caramel, with a subtle earthiness. A medium-bodied ale, our ESB showcases the fruitiness of our house yeast, along with the rich toffee flavors of English crystal malt. Added complexity is provided by a generous amount of English hops. Real Ale ESB finishes slightly dry with a mild spiciness that beckons another pint.
ABV: 5.5%, IBU: 40, OG(plato)"

Redhook ESB - "is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook's signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with grilled meats, game and cheeses."

New beer in a bottle (coming throughout the month)
Great Divide Old Ruffian - "is a hefty, hop-forward Barley Wine- Style Ale. Seemingly mellow at the start with subtle fruit aromas and complex caramel sweetness, it quickly becomes aggressive with its bold hop flavors and huge hop bitterness. Ultimately, the big body, succulent sweetness and massive hop character come together to work wonders on your palate. 10.2% ABV"

Real Ale Sisyphus Barleywine Ale - "Intense and warming, Sisyphus was Real Ale's first seasonal product. A healthy portion of hops balances the rich toffee undertones of the malt. Weighing in around 11% ABV, Sisyphus Barleywine is not for the faint of heart - makes a great nightcap! ABV: 10 - 11%, IBU: 77, OG(plato): 24"
